چکیده

Experiments are described in which a 1 mJ, 1 ps, 1200 nm seed laser beam is amplified by the interaction with an intersecting 350 J, 1 ns, 1054 nm pump beam in a low density 1 1019 /cm3 plasma. The transmission of the seed beam is observed to be enhanced by 25 when the plasma is near the resonant density for stimulated Raman scattering, compared to measured transmissions at wavelengths just below the resonant value. The amplification is observed to increase rapidly with increases in both pump intensity and plasma density. © 2007 American Institute of Physics. DOI: 10.1063/1.2804083

Demonstration of laser pulse amplification by stimulated Brillouin scattering

The energy transfer by stimulated Brillouin backscatter from a long pump pulse (15 ps) to a short seed pulse (1 ps) has been investigated in a proof-of-principle demonstration experiment. The two pulses were both amplified in different beamlines of a Nd:glass laser system, had a central wavelength of 1054 nm and a spectral bandwidth of 2 nm, and crossed each other in an underdense plasma in a c...

Laser pulse compression and amplification via Raman backscattering in plasma

A simple theoretical model is proposed for the interaction between two counter-propagating laser pulses (a pump and a seed pulse) in unmagnetized plasma. Pulse compression and amplification are observed via numerical simulation. A one dimensional fluid model for stimulated Raman backscattering is proposed to investigate the pulse compression and pulse amplification mechanisms. To accomplish thi...

Influence of Interface Thermal Resistance on Relaxation Dynamics of Metal-Dielectric Nanocomposite Materials under Ultrafast Pulse Laser Excitation

Nanocomposite materials, including noble metal nanoparticles embedded in a dielectric host medium, are interesting because of their optical properties linked to surface plasmon resonance phenomena. For studding of nonlinear optical properties and/or energy transfer process, these materials may be excited by ultrashort pulse laser with a temporal width varying from some femtoseconds to some hund...

Raman amplification of ultrashort laser pulses in microcapillary plasmas.

Experimental evidences of Raman amplification of ultrashort pulses in microcapillary plasmas are presented. The amplification of 100-500 fs pulses was investigated in microcapillaries with different lengths. The experimental data, together with simulation results, indicate that the resonance condition for Raman amplification in high-density plasma, n(e) approximately 1-3x10(20) cm(-3), existed ...

Nonlocal thermoelastic semi-infinite medium with variable thermal conductivity due to a laser short-pulse

In this article, the thermoelastic interactions in an isotropic and homogeneous semi-infinite medium with variable thermal conductivity caused by an ultra-short pulsed laser heating based on the linear nonlocal theory of elasticity has been considered. We consider that the thermal conductivity of the material is dependent on the temperature. The surface of the surrounding plane of the medium is...
